Menus
Here at 1st Steps, we are committed to providing all children with a healthy balanced diet to ensure that every child receives the Government guideline of 5+ pieces of fruit/vegetables a day whilst at nursery.
Instead, we provide fresh and tasty breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks. Our menus are healthy, varied, and we cater for special dietary requirements, cultural food choices, allergies, and fussy eaters (wherever possible), so every child can look forward to tasty food they love to eat.
Food and snacks are served throughout the day to ensure that children eat little and often.
A light breakfast is served at approximately 8.15am consisting of Toast / Cereal/ Oats & Milk
Our children have snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon. It consists of a selection of fresh fruit/breadsticks or crudites with dips.
Our main meal is served at 11.30-11.45. Examples of food served are:
- Curry with naan bread & rice followed by Fruit
- Mackerel pate & crackers followed by Spaghetti Bolognaise.
- Fish pie with peas followed by Ice cream
- Sausage, Bean & Lentil Casserole followed by Yoghurt
- Starter of Hummus and veg sticks followed by Roast Dinner with roast potatoes, mixed veg & gravy
Afternoon tea is served at 3pm. Examples are:
- Pate, Crackers & Salad, Fruit
- Sandwiches, Salad, Banana Cake
- Homemade pizza with vegetable fingers & dip, fresh fruit
- Soup with bread & butter, Victoria Sponge Cake
- Tuna Wraps with salad, Fruit Pinwheels
